We had such a nice Halloween! The kids just loved playing dress up and they got so much candy... so much candy that daddy will have to eat! Here are some pictures of our Halloween. Oh and for you people in the West, remember that we're ahead of you by two weeks (eastern standard time). Just kidding, these were from last year - but we didn't have a blog then, so we'll play catch up.

Golfing on Kiawah

On Monday I was invited to play in a charity golf tournament down on Kiawah Island. We played at Turtle Point, which is the sister course to the more famous Ocean Course. It was a gorgeous day in the upper 70s and a complete southern golf experience with gators, Spanish moss-covered oaks, palmetto trees (palms), plantation style club house and even three holes right out on the ocean.

We didn't set any course records, but I did win 4 raffle prizes out from five tickets I bought. No one else at our table won anything, so needless to say, I should have bought a couple lottery tickets that day too (alas I didn't).

USMC Mud Run

Last Saturday we were invited by our friends Justin and Rhonda Griffin to run in the USMC Mud Run - a 4 mile obstacle race that, as the name describes, is steeped in mud. There were hills, trees, walls, mud pits, ponds, swings, logs, bogs and cargo nets - all of which challenged us along the way.

One hour and twenty minutes later we were scattered, covered and smothered with mud and completely exhausted. Mud covered every inch of our bodies and filled every nook and cranny- but (pun intended) overall it was an awesome time. To see the Mud Run's web site, Click here: http://www.usmcmudrun.org/

I've been meaning to put some pics on here of our place since some of you out west have asked about it. It's been only 4-5 months since we've moved in and we really like our new home. It was a foreclosure that needed a little work, most of which we have been able to do ourselves, and it is in a nice quite neighborhood. The big yard has been nice for the kids and it even has a small pond with fish! Here are the pictures.

First Day of School and Introducing Bella

Joshua started kindergarten this past week and our little man is officially all grown up. Meanwhile, Hailey started her first day at pre-school.

A couple weekends ago we went to the animal shelter and adopted Bella, our new cat. She's really fun and the kids can't get enough of her... hence why she sleeps under the bed so much.

Hailey turned 4 on August 20th and she had a very fun swim party with family ad a few friends. The theme was a Princess party and boy did she get some fun Princess gifts. She was the belle of the ball and couldn't have been happier.

Wii Party, Twilight to Daybreak - Big News

The Brunos had us over for a Wii party and now we all want one. Here Joshua is bowling - he beat his old man in his first game ever. No Joke

Then Daddy decided to take on Mama in boxing. Mama won by K.O. - David officially sucks at Wii.

Nerds Night Out. The Twilight gang stayed up until midnight partying like it was 1999 just to buy the fourth book. Then they dreamed about Edward and Bella all night - mostly Edward.

Now for the big news! - Stay tuned for the release of my new book: Daybreak. The story of Edouard and his Mexican Zombie family moving to Blythewood, South Carolina trying to fit in, when Edouard meets Mella (short for Marshmallow, heiress to the Stay-Puff Marshmallow fortune), her brains smell irresistible to Edouard and the unlikely pair fall in love. Here's a tantalizing snippet:

"Yes Mella, you must be careful, I am a real zombie and need to eat brains to live," said Edouard.

"When I saw you in class that day and smelled your brains for the first time, I had decided that I was going to kill the whole class just to eat your brains, they smelled that, how you say, yummy. I can only compare them to 100-year old butter beer for a wizard addicted to butter beer..."

"Hunh, is that from Harry Potter?" I asked.

"Uh? I don't know, but just trust me, your brains smell muy beuno. I sprung my plan into action - I was going to eat your brains right then and there, but by the time I stood up to sink my teeth into your skull, the class had already ended and you had gone. You see I am very slow, being a zombie and all," He concluded.

He gazed in into my eyes with his cloud-covered watery eyes and caressed the side of my face with a single finger as he finished his story. His touch was cool and captivating, well no, more like clammy and slightly sickening, since his skin was moist and seemed to be rotting off his bones. Just then his finger broke free off his hand and fell down my flannel shirt, coming to rest on my left breast. I jumped up and slapped him across his face as I exclaimed I was not that "type of girl" - though deep down his naughtiness exhilarated me. This was going to be the best way to get back at my parents for divorcing - I was in love with a Mexican zombie!

An Evening on Lake Carolina

There's a neighborhood next to ours called Lake Carolina where a lot of our Ward members live and it has a lake big enough on which to water ski. Well a few months back we had an auction fund raiser for our young women and one of the items was a water ski trip donated by a family in that neighborhood and David had to bid on it thinking he was Mr Wakeboarder. So last Thursday night we scheduled to go with the Englands and had a blast. Here are some pics.

Summer Time - When the Living is Easy

It's already been a month since our last post and this post will really demonstrate one of our biggest weaknesses... taking pictures and now our newest weakness... updating the blog.

Since the last post, we've been just soaking up sun and enjoying the summer. Joshua went to superhero camp for a week. Hailey spent a few days at Grandma Joy's with her cousin Elizabeth. Lilly and mommy have been loving the pool and David got to go to Las Vegas for a conference and visit friends and family.

The highlight of the past 30-days was the 4th of July, spent at Aunt Meredith's family lakehouse in Cheraw. All of Celeste's family was there and we has the classic F's - Food, Fun, Family, Friends, Fireworks, and more Food. Good times.

The last bit a news is quite sad :-( ... A couple weeks ago David was called to be in our bishopric as 2nd counselor. Church has now become a major juggling act with Celeste still in the primary presidency and Lilly about to start the nursery. The church must be true, right?

Myrtle Beach Vacation

This past week was time for our week down in Myrtle Beach (annual time share) and the week came and went before we knew it. We found going to the actual beach was for the birds (figuratively) - especially with our three little ones. Instead we found the resort pool to be much more fun and convenient - with a lazy river, kiddie splash pool, regular pools and hot tubs, it was a great place to get lots of sun and fun.

Other than all that swimming, we got to eat at our favorite places, ride some amusement rides at Broadway, and do some outlet shopping. All in all we had a great time, despite a couple nights of sick kids and one flat tire. Enjoy the pics.

Memorial Day and May Fly Air Show

Okay - now that we have a blog, we're going to try to make weekly or bi-weekly postings to serve as a sort of online journal and to keep people up-to-date with our happenings (as if they care).

This past week hasn't been too eventful, though it ended with a four-day weekend since David had Friday off and we have Memorial Day vacation tomorrow.

One neat thing David got to do this week was to attend a little get-together with the YM where a member of our ward recounted WWII stories of when he was in Patton's battalion during the last year and a half of the war. Landing in France on D-Day +2, he lead a small band of "Mechanical Army" troops on several expeditions that included skirmishes with SS Storm Troopers, night raids and reconnaissance trips and one experience where a land mine blew up the armored car he was riding in and killed everyone in the car except him. He didn't have more than a few scratches. He tied all his stories into the power of prayer, the spirit of discernment and divine providence that kept him alive. It was a great precursor to Memorial Day.

The week ended with a small trip to Florence were we ate lunch with Celeste's family, including Grandpa Doug, Aunt Kim and Caden, Uncle Chris, Aunt Meredith, Elizabeth and Bayley. After lunch we went to the May Fly Air Show. It was pretty fun and included stunt flying (see pics), a rocket diesel truck, F-16 maneuvers, and a vintage WWII era battle, with movie style stunt bombings that were pretty awesome.

That was the week in a nut shell. We look forward to a fun upcoming June that will include our annual trip to our time share in Myrtle Beach and then the last week of June David goes to Las Vegas for a week for the national Healthcare Financial Management Assoc. (HFMA) conference (fun for David, not so fun for Celeste).
